A very interesting season at Millican, and really the first season in the team's new identity as a sprint squad. While we didn't quite match last season's record for points in a season, it could be argued that this season was more successful as last season was fuelled by unsustainable luck in breakaways, and this season all of our points were delivered by captains.
We had 5 riders score points this season, led by Diogo Zito:
Diogo Zito 806 points, 2 wins, 4 results in total
Darius Winn (aka Captain Offday) 430 points, 2 results
Nate Thurston 230 points 1 result
Jaime Bolque 60 points
Timoteo Posados 30 points
We had a bit of managerial incompetence this season regarding top forms, accidentally triggering Jaime Bolque's TF at the wrong time (In defense of the manager, he was in the real life hospital following a MTB crash and broken hip, luckily he's already back on the bike). TF usage was also very unlucky, with Nate Thurston falling victim to breakaways on two out of three races that were targeted during his TF.
Finally, we've said goodbye to one of our top leadout men, Orsino Macagno. Macagno has decided to hang up his wheels, and will be joining the training staff looking to maximize the potentials of our young sprinters.
A quick recap of goals set out at the beginning of the season:
-Train Stagg, our first ever signing from the talent feature! He is an incredible CL talent and could be an outstanding hill climb captain with a high max.
-> Stagg was a complete bust, maxing after 63 points and is off the team.
-Use Thurston's TF, pick up 3 wins to move him to 30 career wins.
-> This didn't go well, as massive breakaways ruined several of these races. In one race, Thurston had super legs and TF...and placed 24rd. In a race he has previously won without TF!
-Place top 3 in the team competition in the FR race competition.
-> Not quite, finishing in 5th. This competition is quite hard to win in D2 with the lack of FR races.
-Take Zito to Porto and Nederlandse and be in the hunt for some sprint jerseys.
-> Also didn't work, we took Winn to Porto (no good) and couldn't get in to Nederlandse.
-Add another LOSP from the transfer list.
-> This was very successful, as we scouted and trained Bjorn Dobbelaere, who trained up to be a 218 sprinter and is unmaxed overall, and added Tuen Huijghens as a transfer signing. It's not a coincidence Zito's performance improved at the end of the season with these additions.
In season 59, we're looking to bring out 3 or 4 riders in top form for some tour objectives, with all of Winn, Zito, and Bolque recharging their top forms at the start of the season, while Dobbelaere retains his initial TF. We're not sure where we will end up in terms of points missing three key riders at the start of the season, so it's difficult to say which tours will be targeted. In the meantime, Posados and Dobbelaere will get some chances as captains to see what they can do!
We're also looking to add some equipment in S59, so we'll probably refrain from any major roster moves in S59 unless a really nice talent pops up, and bankroll some cash for a big equipment purchase.

Shame on the low maxing talent feature guy. Good luck next season!
